Summer Montabone, CSCS
Summer’s Fitness is a professional dream realized for Summer Montabone.
This state of the art facility, which opened its doors in 2007, has enabled Summer to achieve her true passion in life: helping people to feel better about themselves. Because when you look beyond her entrepreneurial spirit, beyond her considerable credentials, and professional achievements, Summer is a giver. She cares deeply about seeing her clients gain the personal satisfaction from achieving their fitness goals.
Summer is an advocate for wellness and seeing her clients live healthier lives, and Summer’s Fitness is the vehicle through which Summer changes people’s lives for the better. Summer oversees a staff of personal trainers who are held to rigorous standards of professionalism and expertise. She is the founder of MySpeedCoach.com, comprehensive sports performance and Speed & Agility training, which offers not only developmentally appropriate middle and high school programs, but elite training for professional athletes, as well. In addition, she has founded Team VIP (Very Impressive Physique), which preps physique athletes for competition.
This commitment to transform lives never gets old for Summer. Her talents and energy are boundless, and there is no end to her realm of experience. A professional fitness athlete, she has appeared in national fitness magazines and DVDs as a model. A published author and contributing expert as well as a nutrition educator, her list of certifications is long and well studied.
In November of 2004, Summer achieved a career milestone when she won the “Tall Class” of the National Physique Committee (NPC) Fitness Championships in Dallas, Texas. With that victory, she earned her International Federation of Bodybuilders (IFBB) professional card and took her career to another level. Earlier that same year, Summer won the overall NPC Ohio State Fitness & Figure Championship.
She became a certified strength & conditioning specialist (CSCS) in 2003 through the National Strength & Conditioning Association. Summer also is certified in prenatal and HPL resistance band instruction. Before moving back to her home area of Akron, Ohio to start her training business in 2002, Summer taught at Toledo Whitmer High School.
A track & field athlete in college, Summer graduated from The University of Toledo in 1998 with a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education. In addition, she was president of the UT Gymnastics Club, a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society, and Wellness Employee of the Year at the UT Student Recreation Center.
A 1994 Akron Manchester graduate, Summer is the oldest of six brothers and sisters. She and her husband Jeremie welcomed their first child, a daughter, in November of 2011.
